Ways To Earn Starwood SPG Points

8 Ways to Earn Starwood SPG Points

  1. Hotel Night Stay(s): It's free to join Starwood rewards membership. Once you are joined, you are a Preferred Guest level and earn 2 points per dollar spent at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and if you are Gold and Platinum Preferred Guest level, you earn 3 points per dollar spent. You must book directly with Starwood hotels and resorts, or online at SPG.com

  2. Starwood Credit Card: The easiest way to stack up Starwood points is to sign up for the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express. The current offer is 25,000 bonus points for both the personal and business cards after $3000 and $5000 in purchase within the first 3 months respectively. You also earn 2 additional points per dollar spent with this card at Starwood Hotels & Resorts in addition to the 2 or 3 points that you earn through the night stay(s) that's mentioned above, making it a total of 5 points per dollar spent. You earn 1 point per dollar spent on other purchases.

  3. Delta and Emirates Flights: You earn Starpoint on eligible Delta and Emirates flights, and you also earn miles by staying with Starwood. This benefit is called Crossover Rewards. However, you must register first. Here are the registration links: Delta and Emirates

  4. Total Rewards Accounts: You also earn Starpoints by staying at Caesars Entertainment hotels, including Planet Hollywood, Caesars Palace, Paris and more. Vegas, anyone? You must also register first. Here is the link to register

  5. Design Hotels: Similar to the Total Rewards Accounts, you earn Starpoints by staying at participating Design Hotels. Here is the full list of those participating hotels. There's no need to register for this.

  6. Uber: You earn 1 Starpoint per dollar spent with Uber regardless you stay with Starwood or not, but you must register first to link Uber and Starwood accounts. Register Here

  7. Buy Starpoints: Starwood points can be purchased at the rate of $.035 cent per point without tax. Once the purchase is complete, points will be credited to your Starwood account and you can use those points like you were to earn them from other ways. Buy only when paying for the night stay is more expensive than paying for the points and redeem for award night stays. From time to time, Starwood has points sales that allow member to purchase Starpoints at a discounted rate. For example, now through April 30, 2016, when you purchase Starpoints, you can get up to 25% off the regular price. Here is the link to purchase Starpoints

  8. Starpoints Transfer: If you have American Express Credit Card that has the ability to transfer American Express Membership Rewards Points to other loyalty programs, then you can transfer your Amex points into your Starwood account to increase your Starpoints balance. However, the transfer ratio is NOT good. For every 1,000 Amex points you transfer, you’ll only get 333 Starwood points.
