Review: Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort In Lombok Indonesia

What made our trip to Lombok special is the seclusive of the island and the Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort. This resort is so beautiful. I am going to focus on the following key features of this resort: Price, Location, Transportation, Beach & Loungers, Swimming Pool, Dinning, and last but not least Room.

Price

The Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort is part of the Starwood Hotels, which means it's part of the SPG rewards program. Therefore, you can redeem points for an award night stay down there. This resort is a category 2 hotel, which requires 3,000 points per night stay on the weekend and 4,000 points per night stay on the weekdays. Check out Ways to Earn Starwood SPG Points here. You need to do the math whether redeeming points is worth more than simply paying out of your pocket. The room rate there is quite reasonable around ~$84 per night before tax including breakfast. AAA and AARP members can get additional discounts. What I did to lower the rate even more is to find a cheaper rate on Priceline and filed the best price guarantee claim with SPG and asked for 20% discount once the claim was approved. I succeeded!

Location

The location of the Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort is EXCELLENT. It's right on the Senggigi Beach, which is best known for its sunset. Indeed, we truly loved the sunset there.

Transportation

There's a pier that's within walking distance from the resort, but I believe only the Scoot boat company that sails to there from Bali via Lembongan island, which takes longer than other boat companies. We arrived via fast boat on Lombok at another pier that's far from the resort, but was picked up by the resort's pre-arranged van shuttle for a small fee via email's exchange. It's totally worth it though because it's not easy to find taxis on Lombok. I strongly recommend this.

At the resort, there's a tour desk that provides service for activities around the Lombok. It's the same company that provides van shuttle from the pier and airport to the resort and vice versa.

Beach & Loungers

Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort is right on the Senggigi Beach. Although the Senggigi Beach is not white sandy beach, it's still nice to have a "beach bum" vacation there. The resort provides several lounge chairs and a few limited gazebo to enjoy lounging either on the beach or by the pool. You will need to be quick if you want the nice gazebo there as they can be taken quick by other guests. You can also order food and drinks, and have them brought to you in the gazebo.

Swimming Pool

The main swimming pool at the Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort is definitely one our favorite things to do during our stay there. The temperature of the pool is nice and warm, and consider how humid Indonesia is, frequent dipping in the pool is very invigorating and refreshing! The resort also has a kiddie pool for the young ones right by the main pool. Whereas the main pool has a cool looking waterslide, and I enjoyed that fun a few times there. The pool is not deep at all, you can stand in the pool easily. Another favorite thing to do in the pool there is the swim up bar though the "tortoise" seats there are not very comfortable, but it's not a big deal at all.

Dinning

As I mentioned, Lombok is a very seclusive island. The whole Senggigi Beach area is not that well developed, except for the beach section that's in front of the Sheraton resort. So you really don't have many choices for restaurants and bars. However, one of the restaurants at the resort - the Sunset Bar is very nice. Food is delicious and drinks are good. There's nothing we could ask for more when we could dine, drink, and enjoyed the beautiful sunset at the same time.

The room rate comes with a buffet style breakfast. We found the breakfast was mediocre, but they do have a variety of selections from Oriental, Indonesian to Western food.

Room

You can't always lounge on the beach entire time, right? There are a few room types at the Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort, but obviously you get what you pay for. I really don't know if they upgraded our room or not, but our room has a very nice comfortable King bed with a working desk, a private balcony, and free Internet access. Our room is on the high floor and has partial ocean view along with the pool's view. Overall, the room was satisfying and we sure don't have any complains.
